Observers believe that it is more to do with a huge dent in Israel’s internal political and economic situation rather than the efforts made by USA, Egypt and Qatar that brought about the impossible change in Netanyahu’s aggressive and hostile deportment. Netanyahu had all along been swearing that we won’t rest till total annihilation of Hamas.
The UN Security Council resolution passed demanded an immediate cease-fire, unconditional release of hostages and urgent need to expand the flow of aid into Gaza. The UN resolution is a big blow to Netanyahu’s plans for Gaza as the formidable Hamas was initially thought to be easily expendable. Hamas a force to reckon with, proved its unmatched capabilities. Through martyrdom operations Hamas inflicted huge injuries on the marching in Israeli armies backed by weapons of mass destruction. After offering huge sacrifices in men and material, the UN resolution is considered a big victory for Palestine.
Suhasini Haider, a veteran journalist and an expert on Indian foreign policy issues reports that India shifts its position and votes in favour of an immediate cease-fire by Israel. (March 26, 2024) India joined the list of 153 countries to vote against Israel. Ms Haidar further reports that Israel, in spite of its support for Palestine, appreciated India’s support for a two State solution, which seems a bit bizarre. India holds on tightly to the strings attached with BRICS and its bonded relation with Russian Federation. India’s hobnobbing with the QUAD and the West is definitely on the decline and virtually consigned to the dustbin of history.
However, the new relation with Israel turned out to be a miscalculation for India as roping in USA and the alliance to reap the political and economic harvest lost its warmth and devoutness. In a balancing act, Kallol Bhattacherjee another journalist looking after South-Asian particularly Afghanistan Affairs for India keeps Israel in good stead by reporting that India’s articulated position since the October 7 terror attacks killed more than 1200 people and adds Modi government has condemned the terrorism in the strongest language. The fast changing ground reality of Palestine-Israeli conflict is causing a huge worry for India. By shifting the stance from QUAD to BRICS and then back to QUAD exposed Indian trickiness and in desperation is creating an explosive political environment within India expecting the global community to erase the serious problem of the State of Kashmir. For the past 76 years India used Hindu trickiness to hoodwink international community with the bogey of terrorism to delay a solution for the core issue of State of Kashmir.
For umpteen times India was impressed upon to solve Kashmir issue and offered a third party help but India stuck to the dilly-dally tactics, insisting that the issue will be solved bilaterally and opposed the third party intervention. And whenever the pressure eased India raised the bogey of terrorism to keep Pakistan at bay. India also made sure to keep Kashmir and the leadership, the main stakeholders, out of any political involvement. Leadership either annihilated or jailed and used the weapon to terrorise the whole Kashmir populace by instilling fear and persecution unknown in the annals of comity of nations.
China at the ICJ in a categorical statement said that occupation has become an instrument to suppression and stressed that occupation has to be temporary. The settler colonial projects, and foreign domination must be globally condemned and discouraged. The inherent right to self-defence must be upheld. Pakistan made it amply clear that the denial of the right of self-determination will have serious consequences. Paul Reichler, a renowned barrister having huge experience in handling cases like human rights, genocide, occupation and environmental law said that belligerent occupation is a temporary de-facto situation.
India, right from the day of Nehru ascendency tried all forms of artifice and deception to entice the whole non-Hindu population and succeeded to a large extent. It is generally believed that forcing 230 million Muslims and other minorities to succumb to the pressure is a far-fetched idea and cannot work. Indian exposure to the brazen scheme of Hindu machinations mainly controlled by 6% Brahmans is destined to result in balkanization of India. Modi government is using Kashmir formula to create fear among its own population and fulfil the agenda to convert India into a Hindu State.
According to Einstein, time is the fourth dimension and Indians will have to wait with patience to understand and face the obvious. India knows Kashmir is slipping away at a faster pace than usually thought by protagonists. Patience is running thin and Kashmir is geared up to give India few surprises. India from all sides is surrounded by its adversaries and Kashmir strongly feels that it is not alone. India failed to consider how much it gains from the world in comparison to what it has to offer. India with its own follies finds itself between devil and the deep sea.
India’s magic man Amit Shah, under pressure, offering a lollipop to Kashmir; an eyewash to consider revoking dreaded AFSPA (Armed Forces Special Powers Act) and plans to pull back over a million troops from Kashmir in place. The liar does not mention the other half a dozen draconian Acts in use to persecute and terrorise Muslim Kashmir.
The former Secretary General of the UN Ban Ki-moon way back on August 13, 2015 said occupation is supposed to be temporary because the annexation or acquisition of territory by force is strictly prohibited under International Law; a military conquest, a fundamental objective, tantamounts to a de-facto annexation.
Be peaceful, be courteous, obey the law, respect everyone, but if someone puts his hand on you, send him to cemetery …………..
